Optify Mushrooms Review Summary
Optify Mushrooms is a good mushroom supplement. It promotes long-term brain development, delivers some potent antioxidants, and supports immune system function. But is it a good nootropic? Not really. It promises improvements in focus and clarity. We don’t see how it can really deliver them; at least not the kind of rapid, immediate lift in focus we get from truly complete nootropics. Optify Mushrooms will be right for some, but if you want total brain optimization, look elsewhere.
Optify Mushrooms Review: What Does This Brain Supplement Do?
Mushroom supplements are all the rage right now. More and more are appearing online every single month. Optify Mushrooms is just one of the latest mushroom supplements to hit the shelves, and according to the manufacturer, it is the best mushroom supplement money can buy. It hasn’t received a lot of attention yet, but judging by the number of positive customer reviews it already has, Optify Mushrooms is set to be one of the hot supplements of the year. So what is it supposed to do?
The Optify Mushrooms bottle tells us exactly what this stack is designed to do:
- Energy
- Focus
- Clarity
- Health
- Immunity support
- Brain support
Sounds like an all-in-one, full spectrum nootropic. The fact that it also supports health is great to see; we think nootropics should aim to protect brain health and longevity as well as short-term performance.
But these are just words; words we’ve heard so many times before!
Does Optify Mushrooms really work? What can it actually do? How does it work? Is Optify Mushrooms safe? How does it compare to other full-spectrum nootropics on the market today? Find out by reading our full Optify Mushrooms review below!
Optify Mushrooms Ingredients
Here is the Optify Mushrooms ingredients list as it is shown on the bottle:
As you can see, there are just 4 ingredients, all of them mushrooms (no surprise there). We’ll now give you a quick overview of what each mushroom can – or can’t – do for cognitive performance, brain health, and immune system function. Post your questions in the comments section at the end.
Lion’s Mane – 400mg
Lion’s Mane Mushroom is without doubt one of the most effective nootropics for boosting brain power in the world today. It has a long history of use in traditional Chinese medicine – and cuisine – where it has been used as a kind of cure-all. While many of its traditional uses are bogus, recent studies have found that it has one extremely powerful property – stimulating neuron growth and proliferation.
Lion’s Mane Mushroom consumption promotes Nerve Growth Factor (NGF) expression in the brain. NGF governs the growth, maintenance, proliferation, and differentiation of neurons. Increasing NGF levels invariably means greater brain cell development, which means significantly increased brain power over the long-term.
Lion’s Mane is dose dependent; the more the better. We usually look for 500mg, but the studies indicate that similar benefits can be derived from 250mg and above. Optify Mushrooms provides more than enough for long-term brain development.
Cordyceps – 400mg
We’re less enthusiastic about the use of cordyceps mushrooms as a nootropic, but it does appear to be potentially effctive as a general health booster. There is limited evidence that cordyceps improves cognitive function, contrary to what many supplement manufacturers claim. But, there is evidence that cordyceps helps in various other, equally beneficial ways, from improving energy levels and recovery to improving blood sugar control. Evidence is lacking for some of these benefits but preliminary studies are promising.
One effect that cordyceps supplementation does seem to have is to improve immune system function. Studies have found that regular consumption of large doses of cordyceps mushrooms leads to greater immune cell proliferation and activation (source). Basically, compounds in cordyceps mushrooms seem to kick your immune system into a higher gear.
Reishi – 400mg
Reishi mushrooms are a hot topic in the nootropics world right now. Many people are claiming that reishi consumption has dramatic pro-cognitive effects similar to those obtained form Lion’s Mane. Some recent clinical studies back these claims up. In this 2017 trial, for example, researchers found that reishi mushroom supplementation had significant regenerative effects on brain tissue. So great was the effect that the researchers thought reishi might make a possible “therapeutic agent for the treatment of cognitive decline associated with neurodegenerative diseases”.
It seems that Reishi Mushrooms might work in exactly the same way as Lion’s Mane Mushrooms – increasing neurotrophic factors which lead to neuron growth and maintenance.
Chaga – 400mg
Chaga mushroom has not been anywhere near as well-studied as these other mushrooms. But chaga does look like it has some potential as a general health supplement. Chaga has been used for hundreds of years in parts of Eurasia as a general cure-all. It contains a lot of powerful antioxidants. Unfortunately, many of these are found in the indigestible cell walls of the fungus. So, an extract is needed.
Chaga makes for a very interesting antioxidant source. You wont see this stuff in many nootropics, or even in any antioxidant stacks. Optify Mushrooms might end up starting a new trend here is Chaga turns out to be a particularly potent antioxidant – it might be the new Maritime Pine Bark!
Our Thoughts On The Optify Mushrooms Formula
We don’t have a problem with the Optify Mushrooms formula itself.
Mushroom stacks are difficult to get drastically wrong. The mushrooms they usually contain are effective at what they do; some boost long-term brain development and neurogenesis, others promote immune system function and overall good health. That’s great – if neurogenesis and immunity are your priorities, then a mushroom stack might be just what you need.
But Optify Mushrooms doesn’t just claim to do these things.
It promises similar benefits to truly comprehensive, full-spectrum nootropics.
It claims to deliver increased focus and mental clarity. Technically it will, just over a long period of time. But when nootropics promise enhanced clarity and concentration, they mean right now.
Optify Mushrooms will not heighten your focus or improve your learning capacity in the short term.
It will not give you that noticeable lift in information processing and attention that we get from genuinely comprehensive, all-in-one nootropics. Nor will it benefit those of you looking for some help coping with stress.
Yes, Optify Mushrooms will reduce oxidative stress. But when it comes to staying calm, clear-headed, and focused under serious mental and environmental strain, this stack can’t help.
For us, Optify Mushrooms really over-promises. It is what it is – a decent mushroom stack. Not a particularly powerful one, but a good, well put-together mushroom supplement.
If you want immune system support and enhanced long-term brain development, then Optify Mushrooms is not a bad choice.
But if you want significantly increased focus, faster information processing right now, and improved mental performance under strain, look elsewhere.
Side Effects: Is Optify Mushrooms Safe Long-Term?
There’s nothing in Optify Mushrooms which makes us worried about side effects.
Not in the slightest.
It’s true that few of you will be used to consuming these mushrooms, in this combination, with such regularity. So of course for a number of you, digestive discomfort is a possibility. Stomach cramps or bloating might occur if for some reason your digestive system struggles with these mushrooms.
But in the clinical trials looking at these mushrooms very few participants experienced any adverse effects whatsoever.
Each mushroom is now used in dozens of other supplements. To our knowledge, they are not known to cause any problems for 99% of users.
We know of no mechanism by which the mushrooms in Optify Mushrooms might backfire.
So yes, Optify Mushrooms looks safe for long-term use.
That said, everybody is different. We are just talking about the average user here. We don’t know anything about you or your medical history. That’s why you need to talk to your regular doctor before using any nootropics.
If you think you have serious cognitive decline, get medical attention – DO NOT TRY TO SELF-DIAGNOSE!
Review Conclusion: Is Optify Mushrooms A Good Mushroom Supplement?
Is Optify Mushrooms any good as a mushroom supplement? Yes, absolutely. If you want some immune system support, a different antioxidant source, and something to promote neurogenesis, Optify Mushrooms is not a bad choice.
But Optify Mushrooms doesn’t just present itself as a simple mushroom supplement.
If you look at the Optify Mushrooms bottle, it clearly sells itself as a full-spectrum nootropic.
It promises greater focus, mental clarity, and so on.
Sure, it will delver these things in a very subtle way over a long period of time.
But when nootropics promise focus and clarity, they usually mean now.
Optify Mushrooms cannot deliver the sort of instant lift in focus and clear headedness that we get from today’s top nootropic stacks.
So you really need to decide what you’re looking for from a supplement.
If you want total brain enhancement, use a more complete nootropic. If you just want some immunity support and neurogenesis (which is no small benefit), a good mushroom stack like Optify Mushrooms might be right for you.
