Genius Consciousness Review Summary
Genius Consciousness is a fairly decent natural nootropic supplement. It contains some fantastic cognitive enhncing substances proven to work in clinical trials. We have numerous bases covered here; focus, memory, anxiety, and long-term brain health. The only downside is the fact that a combination of 600mg of Alpha-GPC and any amount of Huperzine A is going to cause side effects. Then there’s the fact that neither NeuroFactor nor Carnitine have ever been found to have notable nootropic properties. In terms of value for money and safety, we think there are far better nootropics on the market today.
Genius Consciousness Review: What does it do?
Genius Consciousness is one of the best-selling nootropics on the market today. The Genius Brand launched just a few years ago with Genius Consciousness as their flagship product. Since then, they have expanded their range of brain supplements and also ventured into sports supplements, sleep aids, and caffeine pills. But Genius Consciousness remains their most popular and best-known product.
According to the manufacturer genius Consciousness benefits:
- Memory
- Learning
- Focus
- Concentration
- Mood
Genius Consciousness is clearly designed to be a coplete brain supplement. It claims to enhance almost every aspect of cognitive function in a safe, side effect-free way.
The question is, does Genius Consciousness really work? What ingredients are in Genius Consciousness? Is it safe to use? Is Genius Consciousness the best nootropic on sale today? Or are there better alternatives? Read our detailed Genius Consciousness review below and find out!
Genius Consciousness Ingredients
What ingredients are in Genius Consciousness?
This is the first question any good Genius Consciousness review needs to answer. The ingredients of a nootropic make it what it is!
Here is the Genius Consciousness ingredients list as it looks on the label:
Here is the Genius Consciousness ingredients list with dosages:
- Acetyl-L-Carnitine – 1g
- Lion’s Mane powder – 1g
- AlphaSize® Alpha-GPC – 600mg
- L-Tyrosine – 500mg
- Methylliberine – 125mg
- Caffeine – 100mg
- SerinAid® (50% Phosphatidylserine) – 100mg
- NeuroFactor™ – 100mg
- AstraGin™ Panax Ginseng extract – 50mg
- Huperzia serrata (1% Huprzine A) – 10mg
It’s great to see that Genius Consciousness has a totally transparent formula. Each Genius Consciousness ingredient dose is listed right there on the label for everyone to see.
We will now go through the Genius Consciousness ingredients one by one, explaining what the ingredient does, how it works, and what the latest scientific research has to say.
Acetyl-L-Carnitine – 1g
Acetyl-L-Carnitine is more commonly referred to as ALCAR. It is a common supplement used by athletes to naturally boost energy levels without having to rely on stimulants. ALCAR makes your mitochondria more efficient at releasing energy from food. While this would increase mental energy, ALCAR does not really have noticeable effects.
Many nootropics contain ALCAR, but better nootropic stacks tend to not bother with this stuff as it doesn’t have significant effects. The 1g dose in Genius Consciousness is a large serving.
Lion’s Mane powder – 1g
Lion’s Mane Mushroom is one of the best natural nootropics in existence. Consuming Lion’s Mane powder has been found to increase the release of Nerve Growth Factor (NGF) in the brain. NGF controls the proliferation, growth and maintenance of neurons. More NGF means greater neuron density, healthier neurons, and by extension, enhanced cognitive function.
Studies show that the most effective dose range for Lion’s Mane is 500-1000mg per day. Genius Consciousness therefore provides more than enough for you to see major improvements in cognitive performance.
AlphaSize® Alpha-GPC – 600mg
AlphaSize is a highly bioavailable, branded form of Alpha-GPC, which is an extremely effective cholinergic. In simple terms, Alpha-GPC increases the availability of choline in the brain. This leads to more acetylcholine, which is the brain’s most important executive neurotransmitter responsible for speech, working memory, learning, decision making, focus, and muscle contraction. This is why Alpha-GPC is one of the best nootropics you can add to your stack.
Studies show that 300mg of Alpha-GPC is effective for improving focus, learning and working memory in as little as 90 minutes. The 600mg dose in Genius Consciousness is more than we need!
L-Tyrosine – 500mg
Tyrosine is a fundamental building block of the neurotransmitter dopamine. While many people think dopamine is a reward signal in the brain, it is actually the neurotransmitter which drives motivation and goal-seeking behavior. Increasing dopamine raises drive, motivation, enthusiasm and determination.
Clinical studies show that Tyrosine supplementation improves mental performance in the context of draining circumstances, such as sleep deprivation, extreme cold, loud noises, and intense pressure. These effects are due to increased dopamine levels. The 500mg dose we get from Genius Consciousness is big compared to other top nootropics.
Methylliberine – 125mg
Methylliberine is a naturally occurring caffeine metabolite found in many of the plants which naturally contain caffeine: coffee, cocoa, guarana, cola nuts, yerba mate, and tea. Many brain supplements and energy boosters today are using methylliberine because of its stimulatory effects. Basically, methylliberine is said to have many of the same benefits as caffeine – increased energy, focus and motivation – with fewer side effects. However, there is little evidence to support these claims. It seems much more likely that methylliberine is just a weaker version of caffeine with broadly similar side effect risks.Genius Consciousness contains 125mg, which is a fairly standard dose.
Caffeine – 100mg
Caffeine is one of the most effective nootropic agents in existence. Most of us consume caffeine on a daily basis without realising we’re consuming a powerful drug, but we are; caffeine is an incredibly potent sitmulant with a tiny minimum acitve dose and dramatic effects. Caffeine instantly reduces fatigue, sharpens focus, speeds up reaction times, and increases motivation. The rub is that caffeine can also cause energy crashes, jitters, anxiety, and brain fog. Genius Consciousness contains 100mg of caffeine, which is quite a lot, especially when combined with methylliberine.
SerinAid® (50% Phosphatidylserine) – 100mg
SerinAid is a branded, standardized, highly bioavailabel form of phosphatidylserine. Phosphatidylserine is used in all of the best nootropics on the market today because it so reliably produces results. Phosphatidylserine is a basic building block of your brain cell membranes. Our phosphatidylserine levels decline naturally as we age, resulting in suboptimal brain cell repair and regeneration. Clinical trials have found that supplementing with phosphatidylserine significantly improves memory, focus, and mental clarity over the long-term. Results are particularly pronounced in older people with mild memory issues.
Genius Consciousness ingredients are generally of very high quality; SerinAid is a case in point. In the most important areas the makers have opted to use high-quality, potent and pure forms of the ingredients instead of basic extracts or plant powders. This will definitely give Genius Consciousness a lot more power, and it makes the stack significantly better value for money than most other nootropics.
NeuroFactor™ – 100mg
NeuroFactor is another branded Genius Consciousness ingredient. However, unlike AlphaSize or SerinAid, we don’t think Neuro Factor is going to do much for your cognitive performance or long-term brain health. Neuro Factor is an extract from the coffee bean. According to its manufacturer, the extract concentrates the antioxidants and polyphenols from the coffee bean; these compounds are known to enhance brain health, and there is some evidence that they may promote Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF). This would be huge, as BDNF controls brain cell development and growth.
The problem is that there is absolutely no good evidence to back these claims up. The makers of these coffee fruit extracts all present scientific evidence, but it is always evidence from trials conducted by them, not by independent researchers. Until we see an independent clinical trial showing major benefits from Neuro Factor, we refuse to believe that it works.
AstraGin™ Panax Ginseng extract – 50mg
Panax ginseng is a mainstay of traditional medicine and a popular ingredient in many brain supplements. Studies show that ginseng extract, and particularly panax ginseng extract, has many benefits when consumed on a regular basis: improved immune system function, reduced stress and anxiety, reduced cholesterol, and increased energy levels. However, there is no strong evidence to suggest that opanax ginseng has nootropoic benefits. We therefore think it has no real place in a brain supplement like Genius Consciousness.
AstraGin is yet another branded Genius Consciousness ingredient. While we don’t think Panax Ginseng is that potent a nootropic, it does have beenficial effects related to anxiety and overall health, and it is good to see a nootropic stack using the highest quality ingredient forms available.
Huperzia serrata (1% Huprzine A) – 10mg
Huperzine A is a highly effective focus and concentration enhancer. Supplementing with Huperzine A is known to rapidly sharpen focus, speed up information processing, and accelerate reaction times. Huperzine A works by inhibiting the enzyme acetylcholinesterase; this is the enzyme responsible for breaking down acetylcholine between your neurons. By inhibiting this enzyme, Huperzine A causes a rapid accumulation of acetylcholine in the brain. This means improved executive cognitive function overall.
While this is a good thing in the short-run, if left unchecked acetylcholine can cause problems in the brain. Too much acetylcholine effectively ‘clogs up’ your neurons, inhibiting cognitive performance. You therefore need to take regular breaks from Genius Consciousness.
Genius Consciousness Formula Review: Does it really work?
Is Genius Consciousness legit? Does it do everything that The Genius Brand say it can?
On the whole, we think Genius Consciousness is a fairly good brain supplement. It compares well to other nootropics on the market right now, and it seems to cover both short-term cognitive performance and long-term brain health. However, Genius Consciousness is not a perfect nootropic; not by any means. This brain supplement has significant problems which prevent it being the best nootropic on the market.
A major selling point of Genius Consciousness is that it delivers large doses of proven, effective nootropics per serving. For example, each dose of Genius Consciousness delivers large servings of ALpha-GPC, Lion’s Mane, Phosphatidylserine, and Caffeine. Together, these nootropics will rapidly increase focus, improve memory function, and boost mental energy. The Alpha-GPC and caffeine take care of focus and learning in the short-term while the Lion’s Mane and phosphatidylserine take care of long-term brain cell development.
Another big benefit of Genius Consciousness is that it uses very high quality ingredients. In most cases, Genius Consciousness uses the most potent, standardized, expensive forms of the ingredient. This is a huge benefit when the ingredients are proven to be effective.
However, Genius Consciousness is not a perfect brain supplement.
The use of Huperzine A and caffeine make Genius Consciousness unsuitable for long-term, daily use. These are two extremely powerful cognitive enhancers, but both cause serious side effects when used in excessive amounts every day. The fact that you need to cycle Huperzine A every couple of weeks makes the other ingredients in Genius Consciousness less effective; the likes of Lion’s Mane and Phosphatidylserine only work when used consistently on a daily basis.
Some of the Genius Consciousness ingredients also lack conclusive proof as nootropics. Neither Panax Ginseng nor NeuroFactor are well proven brain supplements. They may have other uses, but they don’t really have a place in a premium nootropic stack like Genius Consciousness.
Then there are the significant concerns surrounding Genius Consciousness side effects. We will discuss the side effects of Genius Consciousness in the next section, but they are a major drawback.
Overall, Genius Conscoiousness is not the best nootropic we’ve ever seen. While it does deliver large doses of high quality ingredients, the use of unproven nootropics and dangerous stimulants puts us off.
If your goal is to enhance learning, memory and focus, there are better nootropic stacks on the market right now than Genius Consciousness.
Genius Consciousness Side Effects: Is it safe?
Is Genius Consciousness safe? Will it cause side effects?
Genius Consciousness should not cause adverse effects in most people if used infrequently. Genius Consciousness users have reported symptoms of psychomotor agitation, dysphoria, tiredness, dizziness, memory loss, headache, and diarrhea. However, these side effects are rare and typically transient.
Of course, the use of multiple stimulants is the main Genius Consciousness side effect concern.
This stack uses both caffeine and methylliberine. Taking either of these stimulants in isolation will cause side effects, especially at these dose. But taking them together significantly increases the chances of you experiencing adverse effects.
The side effects of mixing these stimulants include:
- Jitters
- Sweating
- Headaches
- Stomach cramps
- Diarrhea
- Nausea
- Dizziness
- Difficulty focusing
- Shortness of breath
- Heart palpitations
- Hypertension
- Insomnia
We do not recommend taking Genius Consciousness on a regular basis as you will almost certainly experience some adverse effects from the high caffeine content and large methylliberine dose.
Huperzine A is also a side effect concern in Genius Consciousness. This nootropic stops the brain from getting rid of excess acetylcholine. While good in the short-term, if used daily this can cause side effects including memory loss, lethargy, low mood, and headaches.
The side effects of nootropics are generrally very mild, especially when using natural nootropic stacks. But that does not mean nootropics are necessarily safe when they use 100% natural ingredients.
Genius Consciousness for ADHD?
Is Genius Consciousness effective for ADHD?
This is a very good question. Many people use natural nootropics alongside Adderall to help them with their ADHD symptoms. Some people even use natural nootropics like Genius Consciousness as substitutes for Adderall. Of course, stacks like this are not marketed for use as Adderall alternatives, but they are often used by people who do not have an ADHD diagnosis or Adderall prescription; just people with some mild ADHD symptoms.
So, is Genius Consciousness good for people with ADHD symptoms?
In many cases, the answer is probably yes. Genius Consciousness contains several ingredients that are highly effective for combatting the symptoms of ADHD. Alpha-GPC enhances focus and learning, while Huperzine A increases concentration span. Caffeine boosts mental energy, while Tyrosine helps support motivation and improve mood.
Together, these Genius Consciousness ingredients should help combat mild ADHD-like symptoms, such as loss of focus, impulsive behaviors, poor learning capacity, or lack of concentration.
Genius Consciousness vs Alpha Brain
Which is better, Genius Consciousness or Alpha Brain?
These are two of the most popular nootropics on the market today, and they promise to deliver very similar benefits. So it is worth comparing Genius Consciousness and Alpha Brain side by side to see which offers the best value for money.
Here is the Alpha Brain ingredients list which you can compare to the Genius Consiousness ingredients above:
As you can see, the biggest difference between these two nootropics is that Alpha Brain uses proprietary blends whereas Genius Consciousness does not. This is a huge difference between Alpha Brain and Genius Consciousness. Nootropics which use proprietary blends are typically doing so to hide just how bad their formula is; they disguise low doses, dangerous stimulant servings, and the use of filler ingredients to bulk out the formula.
There’s no good reason to use proprietary blends. If you read our Alpha Brain review, you’ll learn how every other popular brain supplement has a totally transparent formula. Just look at Genius Brand nootropics like Genius Consciousness – all their products have 100% open formulas!
So why is Alpha Brain hiding theirs? We believe it’s because they’re using cheap filler ingredients to bulk out their stack. So, we have to conclude that – despite its problems – Genius Consciousness is a better nootropic than Alpha Brain.
How to use Genius Consciousness
For those of you impressed with the benefits of Genius Consciousness and its ingredient quality, you will want to consider how to best use this nootropic for maximum effects.
For example, when should you take Genius Consciousness?
Genius Consciousness should be taken 30-90 minutes before engaging in cognitively demanding, mentally taxing work. We recommend taking a ½ serving of Genius Consciousness prior to working and then taking another ½ serving when you need another cognitive boost.
So how long does Genius Consciousness last?
The effects of Genius Consciousness last for quite a long time. A full serving should enhance focus, learning and memory function for about 4-6 hours, depending on dose taken and user tolerance. If the stack did not contain any Huperzine A or caffeine, allowing for daily use, then the benefits of Genius Consciousness would be much longer lasting. This is because the likes of Lion’s Mane and Phosphatidylserine make permanent changes to your brain architecture when used daily.
Can I take Genius Consciousness every day?
No, you should not take Genius Consciousness every day. You cannot take Genius Consciousness every day for several weeks without experiencing side effect from the excessive Alpha-GPC and Huperzine A combo. The 100mg of caffeine also makes it unwise to take Genius Consciousness every day. Consuming that much caffeine on a daily basis is bound to cause some side effects, dependency, and potentially caffeine addiction.
Genius Consciousness Review Conclusion: Is it a good nootropic?
Does Genius Consciousness really work?
The answer is yes, Genius Consciousness should definitely work in terms of enhancing short-term cognitive performance across focus, learning, memory and mental clarity. It should also support mood, motivation and mental energy by providing large doses of Tyrosine and Caffeine.
But is Genius Consciousness worth the cost? Is it the best nootropic your money can buy right now?
Unfortunately, we think the answer is no. Genius Consciousness may provide some powerful, effective, proven nootropics at generous doses, but the formula is deeply flawed. One of the main issues with Genius Consciousness is the fact that it cannot be taken daily without users experiencing side effects thanks to the Huperzine A content. This makes most of the best nootropics in Genius Consciousness far less effective, as they generally need weeks of consistent, daily use to have maximum benefits. The large doses of both caffeine and methylliberine significantly increases overall safety and side effect risks of Genius Consciousness too.
To top it all off, NeuroFactor and Ginseng have never been proven to have any meaningful nootropic benefits whatsoever.
So overall, Genius Consciousness cannot justify the price tag. The formula has been badly designed, so what could have been an amazing daily nootropic stack is actually just a potentially dangerous short-term focus and energy booster.
If your goal is to optimize overall cognitive function in both the short-term and as you get older, then there are better nootropics out there than Genius Consciousness. Our top rated nootropics support long-term brain health while delivering rapid improvements in focus, clarity, learning and memory function.
