Genius Mushrooms Review Summary
Genius Mushrooms is not a bad mushroom supplement at all. By any measure, it is a solid mushroom supplement stack providing a good serving of three very important medicinal mushroom. However, this is not the most complete mushroom supplement on the market right now. - Genius Mushroom Ingredients
- When to take Genius Mushrooms
- Genius Mushroom Side Effects
- Genius Mushrooms VS Alpha Brain
- Genius Mushrooms VS Host Defense
- If you should buy Genius Mushrooms by the Genius Brand

The Genius Brand is well known on websites like Amazon, and have a popular range of supplements including:
- Genius Consciousness

Genius Consciousness typically being for cognition, and Genius Joy being for mood.
When Should I take Genius Mushrooms?
Genius Mushrooms as dietary supplement should be taken as 1 capsule with an 8oz glass of water, 20 minutes before meals 3 times daily.
Genius Mushrooms may also be taken as 3 capsules in one serving 20 minutes before a meal with 8oz of water once a day, if preferred.
It is preference, but we believe spacing the servings out over time throughout the day is the most effective way to get the most out of the ingredients in here as you’re giving your body a constant supply of the nutrients it needs.
Just make sure you’re taking it with those 8 ounces of water.
It’s also worth noting that these are veggie capsules (vegetable capsules) which makes them suitable for vegetarians.
Genius Mushrooms Ingredients: What’s in these health products?
The Genius Mushrooms ingredients are as follows:
- Organic Cordyceps Mushroom Extract – 500 mg
- Organic Reishi Mushroom Extract – 500 mg
- Organic Lion’s Mane Mushroom Extract – 500mg
It’s one of the only supplemental mushroom stacks on the market. However this may be for good reason. Medicinal mushrooms do have some benefit, but this doesn’t apply to all of them.
Below, we look at three ingredients in Genius Mushrooms to see just how effective these edible mushrooms are, how well they fare in animal studies, clinical studies and more. And if they really offer that ‘Genius Mushroom Healthy Immune System Support’ like they claim.
Organic Cordyceps – Natural Energy and Performance Booster?
This is one of the main ingredients that Genius Mushrooms deliver. Cordyceps mushroom (also known as Cordyceps Militaris) is claimed in Traditional Chinese Medicine to help work as an anti-aging and pro-vitality supplement.
The Genius Brand themselves claim that their organic cordyceps mushrooms can help fight through fatigue, increase energy & clarity and ATP level to help better improve your endurance and oxygen utilization.
However, when it comes to the actual research on cordyceps mushroom – there’s not a lot of evidence to show that it can actually improve, natural energy production, exercise performance or any of these things.
Human clinical research of cordyceps is minimal, with the only real research being into the body’s lactate threshold – which is not what we’re concerned with here.
The Genius Brand appear to be leaning on the Traditional Chinese Medicine views – not backed by any science, just loaded with anecdotal evidence.
Not a good choice of contents when it comes to improving energy.
Organic Reishi Mushrooms – Anxiety Reliever?
Another one of the main ingredients in Genius Mushrooms is Reishi Mushrooms. Also known as Ganoderma Lucidum, Reishi mushrooms have been seen to help as an immune system regulator and as a stress reducer.
Unlike the Cordyceps mushroom extract supplement, one of the other types of mushrooms in this supplement – Reishi is actually a useful ingredient in Genius Mushrooms.
Continuous use of Reishi mushrooms has been seen to an improvement in subjective well-being and a reduction in overall anxiety and improving mental clarity.
However, we do have an issue with the dosage in Genius Mushrooms. Most studies that show Reishi mushroom to be effective for reducing anxiety and promoting well-being, use a high dosage. Typically around 3000 mg a day of Reishi mushroom over 3 servings.
There’s only 500 mg of this type of mushroom in Genius Mushrooms. You may get some positive effects, but it’s unlikely that you’ll get the full health boost from such a small dosage from Genius Mushroom.
When well-dosed Reishi can help with mood and immune function. In a smaller dosage like from these mushroom stacks, you’ll unlikely to get that full ‘Genius Mushroom Healthy Immune System Support’ like it claims. It would be better for immune health if the dosage was higher.
Organic Lion’s Mane Mushroom Supplement – Brain Functions and Mental Health Booster?
The final ingredient in Genius Mushrooms: Lion’s Mane Mushroom. Sometimes labelled Lion’s Mane Medicinal Mushroom, this mushroom is mostly known for its nootropic effects, and is often used in both nootropic stacks, mushroom coffee like MUD WTR and mushroom supplements like Genius Mushrooms.
Lion’s mane mushroom has been seen in numerous studies to be an effective nootropic supplement for brain health and cognitive function. Lion’s mane mushroom’s nootropic effects can even help with brain tissues and health. Lion’s mane can stimulate Nerve Growth Factor (NGF) production in your brain, which can help with neural regeneration, brain cells replication and stimulate brain cell growth as well as myelin nerve sheath synthesis.
It may also help with inflammation reduction which can help to some degree with anxiety and depression. This reduced inflammation also improves blood flow to the brain and heart health.
This, in addition, there’s also potential for the Lion’s mane mushroom type offering benefits in the form of learning and the formation of new memories. It’s a great mushroom health food.
It’s easily the best ingredient in Genius Mushrooms as it has clinical evidence showing it to help brain optimization and cognitive performance, especially at that dosage of 500 mg.
Genius Mushrooms Ingredients Summary
As you can see, there are only three ingredients in Genius Mushrooms. It contains three types of edible mushrooms which is claimed to help your mind as well as your immune system.
However, there only appears to be two mushroom types in this supplement which actually deliver on these benefits: the organic mushroom extract lion’s mane and the reishi mushroom. The cordyceps on the other hand, has no real impact at all in here.
Genius Mushrooms Side Effects: Are Genius Mushrooms Safe?
Genius Mushrooms are safe to take, and are unlikely to cause any side effects or risks to your health.
That said, you should always make sure that you don’t suffer from any intolerance or allergies to the nutrients that are already in these capsules.
Genius Mushrooms Drug Test: Will You Fail?
You will not a fail a drug test from using Genius Mushrooms. Genius Mushrooms contains all edible mushrooms which are completely legal.
You won’t run into any problems in a drug test after consuming a product like Genius Mushrooms.
Genius Mushrooms VS Alpha Brain: Which is Better?
Genius Mushrooms and Alpha Brain differ greatly. Despite both being brain and memory supplements they have totally different ingredient profiles which achieves entirely different outcomes.
When it comes to Genius Mushrooms VS Alpha Brain, we have to give to Genius Mushrooms.
Because Alpha Brain contains a large amount of proprietary blends. This is when a supplement manufacturer chooses to hide the dosages of the ingredients in their products under one larger formula or ‘blend’.
Onnit Alpha Brain does this a lot – and the result is you don’t know how much of each ingredient you’re getting or how effective it is. At least with Genius Mushrooms you’re getting at least one good dose of Lion’s Mane Mushroom.
For better brain, memory, and cognitive health – we have to give it to Genius Mushrooms.
Genius Mushrooms VS Host Defense: Which Should You Use?
Genius Mushrooms VS Host Defense contain very similar ingredients, however Genius Mushrooms is deemed the superior product.
Although Host Defense also contains Reishi, Lion’s Mane and Cordyceps (as well as Bacopa Monnieri, Gotu Kola and Ginkgo Biloba), the mushrooms are in a much lower dose than the Genius Brand.
Although Genius Brand’s Genius Mushrooms does not have the same spread of ingredients, what it does have, it has in a more effective dose – which makes all the difference.
Genius Brand Genius Mushrooms Reviews Conclusion Summary
In conclusion Genius Brand Genius Mushrooms, do have some benefits when compared to some of the other nootropic supplements that you find on Amazon.
However, it isn’t the best. Under-dosed in some places, and only containing three ingredients, there are much better options out there for helping with memory loss, aggressive stress response, chronic inflammation and mood enhancement.
Mushrooms like Lion’s Mane have some great advantages for cognition, however using it will only take you so far if you are looking for the best results.
Ideally, what you need is a nootropic brain supplement which is backed by numerous animal studies, human studies, clinical studies for each ingredient and dosage to show that it will give you the best beneficial effects.
