Vital Vitamins Brain Booster Ingredients: What’s in here?
Vital Vitamins Brain Booster contains the following natural ingredients:
- Vitamin B12 – 500 mcg
- Bacopa Monnieri – 300 mg
- Phosphatidylserine 20% – 100 mg
- Ginkgo Biloba – 100 mg
- Rhodiola Rosea Extract – 50 mg
- DMAE – 50 mg
It’s good to see that all the natural ingredients and herbal extracts in here are clearly labelled with their full dosages. You know exactly how much of each ingredient you’re getting and how effective it is overall in this nootropic supplements.
On the whole, most of the ingredients in Vital Brain Booster are good. However, there are a few misses in here that could be improved when it comes to brain health.
Below, we give you the full rundown of the ingredient profile (key nutrient supplementation) in Vital Vitamins Brain Booster, explaining each ingredient, how they promote cognitive function and how they may be improved.
Vitamin B12 offers numerous benefits when supplemented. It can help improve physical energy and mood when used in this nootropic supplements.
However, the only big brain health benefits from B12 are typically gained when it is combined with Vitamins B6 and B9. Together they can help to reduce homocystine which can result in higher mental performance rather than just physical energy.
Vital Brain Booster works with just B12 and missed the mark with this ingredient in their formula.
Do Vitamins Help Brain Function?
Vitamins can help with brain and cognitive functions. Vitamins B6, B9 (folate), and B12 can all help to break down homocysteine – which in high levels can increase risk of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. These B vitamins also help your body to produce energy which can help develop brain cells. Vitamins B6, B9 and B12 when combined are great for brain health.
Supplementing these three can help with cognitive functions, enhance alertness and helps reduce mental fogginess and mental fatigue.
Bacopa Monnieri is a nutrient that may help improve brain health in our Vital Brain Booster review and has plenty of human research behind it. The main benefit that Bacopa Monnieri delivers is memory support.
Clinical studies have shown that nootropic supplements like Bacopa can help reduce the rate of forgetting new knowledge. It can also help support mental processing, brain performance, logical reasoning, cognitive ability and promoting relaxation and produce feelings of mental clarity under stressful situations.
In short, this dietary supplement ingredient can help improve mood, improve memory and improve cognitive ability.
It’s good for cognition, supporting memory as well as supporting mood and anxiety. A great choice in Vital Vitamins Brain Booster.
Phosphatidylserine is a phospholipid compound in our Vital Brain Booster review that makes up to 15% of the fats in your brain. It’s an effective choice in a brain supplement.
It works by promoting neurotransmitters in your brain like acetylcholine and dopamine. This can help brain cell energy production via glucose metabolism.
There’s also some evidence that this dietary supplement ingredient may support an increase in Nerve Growth Factor (NGF) which can help to support brain cell creation, brain cell maintenance and brain cell repair.
The result is that it can help support a sharper memory, as well as reduce cognitive decline while also boosting your feelings of well-being and mindset.
It’s good for helping with mood, anxiety and mental clarity, and a great addition to Vital Brain Booster in our review.
Ginkgo Biloba is another good choice we were delighted to see in our Vital Brain Booster review. This dietary supplement ingredient is mainly used by the elderly, but there is still some advantages to younger people using it as a brain supplement.
It is used mainly for two compounds: terpenes and glycosides. Together they help to improve blood flow and blood viscosity which allows more oxygen, glucose and nutrients to make it to your brain in a shorter period of time.
Age related cognitive decline usually comes from poor blood flow to the brain. By increasing this, it can help to slow the overall progress of the problem.
By supplementing Ginkgo Biloba you can help support better blood flow to your brain to ensure your brain cells get more of the support they need.
Rhodiola Rosea is a Scandinavian herb which has been seen to deliver numerous benefits in the nootropics and brain boosting space. It’s no wonder why we’re seeing this dietary supplement in our Vital Vitamins Brain Booster review.
Rhodiola Rosea has been seen in numerous studies to help promote feelings of well-being as well as reducing feelings of stress and anxiety. Not only that, the herb has also help energize you with it’s ability to reduce fatigue, and enhancing cognitive performance, and fights mental fogginess.
So, how does it achieve all this?
Rhodiola Rosea helps by improving your overall levels of neurotransmitters norepinephrine, dopamine and serotonin. It can also help them cross the blood brain barrier to help your brain get more out of them.
The herb also contains acetylcholine protective and antioxidant properties which can help fight stress by reducing your brain’s overall release of the stress hormone cortisol.
It’s a great choice in a supplement like Vital Vitamins Brain Booster.
This is the most disappointing dietary supplement ingredient in Vital Brain Booster.
Vital Vitamins Brain Booster has some great ingredients, many of which we were impressed with in our review.
So, why did they have to go and add DMAE?
DMAE is a compound that is commonly found in beauty creams. It’s believe to help reduce the appearence of aging as a topical cream. However, at some point this made its way into supplements.
Numerous brain boosters claim that DMAE can help reduce the effects to age-related cognitive decline and enhance focus. However, there’s little to no evidence that proves this to be the case.
What’s more, studies involving DMAE have seen it linked to causing numerous side effects. It’s not a great option in Vital Vitamins Brain Booster – which is a shame compared to the rest of the ingredients in this formula.
Vital Vitamins Brain Booster Formula Review – Does it enhance cognitive function?
Vital Brain Booster’s ingredient profile has some great additions to it. There’s plenty of nutrients and compounds in here that we would deem to be ‘good’ brain boosters for cognitive performance.
- Bacopa Monnieri
- Gingko Biloba
- Rhodiola Rosea
However, there’s been a big mistake with the DMAE. It’s an ingredient which has been linked to side effects, and not been reported to deliver much benefits when it comes to actually raising cognition.
We’ll cover more of our issues with DMAE in the side effects section – as for now, it’s definitely an ingredient that we would remove from Vital Vitamins Brain Booster.
We also think Vital Brain Booster would get a lot of benefit from including more ingredients.
L-Theanine, N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine and Citicoline would all greatly support this nootropic.
L-Theanine can help deliver ‘wakeful relaxation’ which helps to boost focus while keeping you calm. Whereas L-Tyrosine can help keep you productive during stressful situations, and Citicoline has been linked to strongly promoting brain energy.
We also believe that the Vitamin B12 would benefit from being combined with Vitamin B6 and B9 – as together they can help reduce homocysteine which causes cognitive decline. The trio would also promote mood, mental energy, memory and brain health.
There’s a lot that could be added to this nootropic that would help it stand above the rest. However, at the moment, it seems to be just slightly the average quality out there.
Vital Vitamins Brain Booster Side Effects – Does it affect Brain Health?
Vital Brain Booster has a side effect risk from the DMAE in its formula. DMAE is a compound which has been observed in animal testing to cause birth defects in mice.
Although this hasn’t been seen to scale directly up to humans – you shouldn’t rule out the chance. If you are pregnant or trying for a baby, we strongly recommend that you stay away from compounds like DMAE, and by extension Vital Brain Booster.
Is Vital Vitamins Brain Booster safe?
Vital Vitamins Brain Booster should be safe to use for most people. The only exception is those who are pregnant or trying for a baby.
This is due to the potential birth defects that has been observed from animal studies of DMAE.
Vital Vitamins Brain Booster Reddit: Has it been mentioned?
Vital Brain Booster has not been mentioned on Reddit to our knowledge. We will keep you updated as to whether or not the online forum mentions Vital Brain Booster in the future and what they say about this supplement.
Vital Brain Booster Reviews Conclusion
In conclusion Vital Vitamins Brain Booster does have some merits, but it is by no means the best brain supplement or nootropic on the market.
Although some good ingredients for improving cognition, it doesn’t contain a wide enough range of ingredients to really bring out maximum brain power.
There’s also the issue with Vital Brain Booster containing DMAE which has links to causing birth defects in animal studies.
It’s got some good ingredients in here for sure – but it is far from the #1 nootropic.
