PRL-8-53 is another research chemical that we’ve received numerous questions about in recent months. Like most research compounds, PRL-8-53 does not have a very larg euser base. But also like other research chemicals, people that do use PRL-8-53 tend to be huge advocates of the drug.
According to its fans – and manufacturers – this nootropic smart drug is a broad spectrum cognitive enhancer. They claim that it works by enhancing neurochemical production in the brain, specifically in relation to the catecholamine neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin (plus acetylcholine). If it is really effective at boosting these three neurotransmitters without causing side effects, then it is likely that PRL-8-53 is one of the best cognitive enhancers in existence.
In this article, we’re going to look at PRL-8-53 reviews, benefits, uses, and side effects to see if this nootropic compound is worth using or not. If you have any personal experience using PRL-8-53 please share it with us in the comments at the end.
What is PRL-853?
PRL-853 (Reference) is an artificial nootropic that’s derived from benzoic and phenylethylamine. Benzoic acids can be found in foods such as dairy products, fruits and vegetables.
PRL-8-53’s drug name is methyl 2-benzyl-methyl amino ethylbenzoate. It is a promising addition that Dr. Nikolaus Hansl from Creighton University developed in 1972.
Rumors and some documents suggested that Dr. Hansl (PRL-8-147) also created a stronger PRL-8-53.
In 1978 Dr. Hansl did a study on humans that showed that volunteers could double their memory by taking one dose of the drug.
PRL-8-53 was the first nootropic to be discovered.
It is even described by Neurohackers as a powerful supplement that improves memory retention, recall, and memory formation.
Methyl 3 2 benzyl is a brain supplement that causes changes in thinking and processing information. Its chemical composition protects brain cells from injury and prevents them developing neurological diseases.
Cognitive function is better, which means that mental faculties such as intelligence, attention, alertness, and memory work at their best.
How does PRL-8-53 Work?
3-2-benzyl methyl amino ethyl benzoate or PRL-8-53 regulates neurotransmitters. According to Dr. Hansl it increases dopamine, modifies serotonin and enhances Acetylcholine activity.
Acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter, works to improve memory. The increased levels of dopamine can make you more active, focused, and motivated.
Serotonin is responsible for feelings of anxiety, depression, and difficulty sleeping. PRL 8 53 (53*8) blocks serotonin production in order to prevent these unproductive states.
The lone research predicted that volunteers would develop impulsive and aggressive disorders due to dopamine or serotonin activity. These side effects weren’t common among them.
Effects, Uses and Benefits
Nootropics are used to improve cognition. PRL-853 reviews showed that it could enhance mental abilities within a short time.
The effects and benefits of this supplement have not been fully researched. This claim is supported by anecdotal evidence.
Its ability to increase cognitive function and mental ability is attested to by users. These are the main benefits of PRL-853.
Long-term memory enhancement
Evidence was found that participants received a dose of 5mg of PRL-853 two hours prior to a memorization test in the only human clinical study.
The students listened to 12 words in different sequences. After the test was over, they were required to remember the words.
They were again asked to recall the words after the test for 2 hours and 96hrs.
These three cases showed that immediate recall did not provide any benefits over PRL-8-53. However, the results of the final test showed an improvement of 80%.
Improved visuo-spatial memory
Dr. Hansl’s unpublished research shows that volunteers were tested by recalling the geometric patterns shown to them. They did this by drawing them on a piece paper.
The test shows high statistical data that support improved visual memory function following the PRL-853 supplement.
Fluency in verbal communication
Another test result is yet to be discovered. Participants were asked to create words using dots or letters. The drug’s potential for verbal fluency is further bolstered by higher scores among those on PRL-853.
Other potential benefits of the drug include chemical effects in the brain that may provide additional benefits.
These are the results of animal clinical trials. These same events are believed to occur in the human brain.
Dopamine upregulation
As we age, our dopamine production decreases. This has a major impact on cognition. This compound regulates dopamine production, which helps to prevent cognitive decline and age-related cognitive decline.
Memory formation over the long-term
The drug increased noradrenaline levels in animals when tested. It is possible to increase long-term storage by observing the same effect in humans.
Enhances the cholinergic system
The drug increases the brain’s acetylcholine level. This means that the drug can increase memory storage and retrieval.
PRL-8-53 Dosage
PRL-8-53 is not yet approved for use in clinical trials.
What is easily available in the amount that has been proven to have benefits for users? According to the published study, 5 mg is recommended. The effects of the drug can lead to subjects increasing their daily intake to 10-20mg depending on how they feel.
The patent information outlines the ideal PRL-853 dosage. The dosage is proportional to body weight at 0.1-4 mg/kg. This ratio is controversial because it allows for a large range of dosage variations.
How to take PRL-8-53
There is no evidence that the drug can be taken in excess. It was however, proved lethal in animal testing.
Although the powder supplement can be taken in many other ways, Dr. Hansl recommends that you take it orally.
PRL-8-53 is usually available in powder jars of 1-5 grams. It can be taken by mouth, added to drinks, or in caps.
Side Effects
PRL-8-53 is an easily tolerated nootropic that has not been tested in a large clinical study.
It is possible that it will have side effects similar to other nootropics, if it does.
Some users may experience mild headaches while taking the drug. There is no other reported side effect.
Motor function was reduced in animals. This has yet to be tested on humans.
You should begin with low doses, and gradually increase your intake depending on your body’s response.
Reddit Reviews and Experiences
These are some PRL-8-53 Reddit stories.
According to inmy325xy
“I started with very small amounts and gradually increased my intake. I feel 10mg is a good daily dose. It didn’t seem that 15mg was any better than 10. For Neuroscience testing, I tried 20mg and was amazed at the improvement in recall. “
According to baliflipper
PRL has helped me increase my verbal fluency. It’s great for studying when combined with caffeine. It must be used in conjunction with studying and the exam to recall. “
According to wave78
“I combined PRL with Semax and caffeine and was able to memorize 300 questions for an exam in less than 3 hours. This combination was incredible for memory. By the way, I have terrible memories. I am not young. I also drank heavily for most of my adult life. You know me well, memory is not something I enjoy. It is saved for special occasions. “

Editor’s PRL-8-53 Review
Our Editor, Brian Johnson, tried PRL-8-53 for 2 weeks. Here is his personal review of his experience:
I took PRL-8-53 every day after breakfast for 14 days straight. I took the same amount – 10mg – every single day at almost exactly the same time. Throughout the 14 day trial I used the same form of PRL-8-53 from the same source.
I have to say that overall I found PRL-8-53 to be a solid cognitive enhancer. I can honestly say that PRL-8-53 made a noticeable improvement to my cognitive function in just about every way. In particular, my working memory and ability to remain concentrated on a single task for prolonged periods were both greatly improved while taking this compound. I found that I was better able to articulate complex thoughts and ideas, and my ability to explain myself to others were both markedly improved.
Unlike some nootropic research chemicals, I didn’t actually notice any feeling of being “on” PRL-8-53. The only way I could tell I was using a potent nootropic was through my measurably improved cognitive performance. This is a huge positive for me; it’s why I tend to use stacks like NooCube or Vyvamind for daily nootropic supplementation and leave things like Modafinil for when I really need to kick things up a notch. PRL-8-53 didn’t have any kind of overwhelming feeling to it. Instead, it just gave me better memory and focus!
All-in-all, I had a very positive experience while on this nootropic compound. I wouldn’t replace my daily nootropic stack with it, but I will definitely use PRL-8-53 again in the future.
Stacking PRL-8-53
Nootropics work together. Each one has its own benefit, so stacking them correctly can have positive effects on the body.
We don’t know enough about PRL-853 to be able to fully understand its benefits. However, we can still trust the idea that stacked supplements offer maximum benefits when combined.
Why not stack PRL-8-53 and other supplements?
A “stack” is a combination of multiple nootropics. Cognitive enhancers often stack ingredients to increase their effectiveness.
Anecdotal evidence suggests that a stack might work well with:
- Vitamin B12
- Alpha GPC
- Memantine
- Sunifiram
- Phenylpiracetam
These supplements have been tested by users only and are not based upon research. These substances do not interact with PRL-853 in any way.
Where can I buy PRL-853 Powder and Capsules
Trustworthy vendors should sell experimental drugs. It is not regulated and any vendor can claim that their products are authentic.
SwissChems, a trusted nootropic vendor, offers lab-tested supplements so that customers can be sure of its purity. Customers are assured that the shipping methods will be used correctly so that they don’t have to worry about having to ship from faraway locations.
PRL-8-53 powder can be purchased in 500mg jars.
